The Role

As a Welding Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in our operations. You'll engage directly with clients, providing technical expertise to shape project tenders and ensure comprehensive project understanding. Your responsibilities will span from overseeing welding procedure qualifications to selecting cutting-edge equipment and consumables. Additionally, you'll champion efficiency enhancements and contribute to our pioneering R&D initiatives.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel within the Middle East Region to support Projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist in fulfilling the operational requirements for welding activities for project execution in a cost-efficient, effective and safe manner
  • To ensure welding and ancillary equipment is fit for purpose, in time, at the right location, in a cost-efficient way and within budget
  • To ensure that comprehensive welding and material knowledge is maintained and increased on a regular basis by means of memberships and technical course attendance
  • To provide budget-estimates and / or firm offers for tenders, projects or internal clients with respect to welding activities and equipment
  • To assist in the review of technical specifications for tender/contract purposes, determining cost, quality and cycle time impact
  • To provide welding cycles for pipeline installation rate estimates for tender budget purposes and planning purposes
  • To request quotations and evaluate bids for welding equipment and personnel
  • Collect, implement and use know-how and experience for the purpose of improving customer service
  • Coordinate all aspects of welding procedure qualification (test schedules, costs, materials, etc.)
  • To organize and monitor welding crew training and qualification programs, evaluate and approve crew members suitability
  • To prepare and present project kick off meetings at on-site locations when necessary
  • Give technical support and advice to the various departments regarding welding equipment and processes
  • To request quotations for third party operations (ECA, NDT, ….)
  • To ensure that required documentation for welding activities are finalised and to monitor their execution
  • To analyse performance (productivity, quality) during project execution
  • To ensure correct filing, archiving and document control within the department
  • To stop the job in the event of any unsafe practices and report any hazards or incidents in the workplace, including damaged equipment or facilities
  • To instruct personnel and subcontractors in accordance with agreed plans

 

Key Requirements

  • Considerable experience as a Welding Engineer on multiple work sites or equivalent level through experience (Both Off and/or Onshore Worksites)
  • Considerable experience in preparing and executing projects within Oil and Gas welding industry
  • Considerable experience in welding inspection duties
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanised welding, welding procedure qualification and troubleshooting common welding issues
  • High level of communication skills enabling concise discussion of complex technical issues during tender and project execution

 

Job Specific Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in welding / materials engineering or equivalent level through experience
  • European/International Welding Engineer (EWE / IWE) or equivalent level through experience
  • Considerable practical knowledge of QHSE systems (Relating to the individual’s discipline)
