The Workshop Supervisor reporting to the Coating Equipment Manager will supervise and support daily workshop operations through active hands-on involvement, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The role is responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing workshop personnel, promoting a positive safety culture, world class housekeeping standards, maintaining productivity, and ensuring operational targets and deadlines are consistently achieved.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervising and supporting workshop staff and apprentices to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards and operational requirements.
- Providing hands-on technical guidance, fault finding and troubleshooting support to assist with the completion of maintenance, repair, and operational tasks.
- Ensuring all health, safety, environmental, and company procedures are consistently followed, promoting a world class safety culture and compliance across all workshop activities.
- Monitoring productivity, quality of completed work, and completion of work schedules to ensure deadlines, performance targets, and customer expectations are achieved.
- Training, coaching, and mentoring team members and apprentices to develop technical skills, competency, and professional growth within the workshop environment.
- Working alongside the workshop planner to Coordinate equipment and resource availability to ensure efficient workflow and support operational priorities.
- Maintaining world-class standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and housekeeping within the workshop, ensuring a safe, organised, and professional working environment.
- Ensuring equipment tracking processes are maintained accurately, including the monitoring, recording, movement of plant equipment.
- Assessment of equipment upon return from projects.
- Supervise Engineering teams to support upcoming and ongoing projects in country.
Job Specific Education Required:
- 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including Math’s & English
- Time served Mechanical/electrical apprenticeship
- HNC or equivalent Engineering qualification
Work Experience Required:
- Proven experience working within a workshop, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, or technical environment.
- Strong hands-on technical experience, including fault finding, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities relevant to the workshop operation.
- Experience working to health, safety, and quality standards within a fast-paced operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet operational deadlines effectively.
- Experience training, mentoring, or supporting the development of apprentices.
- Familiarity with equipment control, asset tracking, and workshop resource management processes.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to lead by example and maintain high standards of professionalism and quality of work.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Able to work independently and on own initiative.
- Positive can-do attitude
- Good communication skills, able to work with clients and colleagues at all levels and to generate clear and accurate reports detailing actions taken and recommended future actions.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own and others time efficiently.
- An understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical systems is desirable

- Able to support projects globally
