The Senior Proposal Specialist reporting to the Tendering Manager will be independently and enthusiastically prepare and submit cost-effective, technically accurate proposals for projects of medium and high complexity within CRC Evans. This role requires strong analytical, commercial, and technical skills to interpret customer requirements, develop competitive proposals, and align bids with company objectives and revenue targets. They engage with customers directly and help shape commercial strategy for key tenders and serve as a point of reference for junior staff.
Major Responsibilities:
Remit & Responsibilities:
- Independently manage the preparation, costing, and submission of proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in line with customer requirements and company strategy.
- Analyse client needs to identify the correct solutions and equipment, producing compliant and technically sound proposals.
- Develop cost build-ups and apply appropriate margins aligned with CRC Evans’ operational margin and revenue targets.
- Lead proposal review meetings, presenting bid strategies, pricing, and technical clarifications.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the wider Proposal Team, Commercial, Engineering, and Operations functions to gather necessary inputs for proposals.
- Undertake contractual reviews and approaches negotiations fully prepared with associated give-gets and pre-determined boundaries for agreements.
- Provide expert insight on Pricing/FJC/welding solutions, help formulate commercial strategy
- Maintain up-to-date records of tender activities and progress within CRM and proposal tracking systems.
- Identify and address areas of concern within proposals and suggest give/gets and agreement boundaries for negotiations.
- Develop and refine proposal templates, tools, and estimating methods to enhance team efficiency.
- Independently leads customer-facing activities, including hosting proposals presentations, Tender Kick Off
- Meeting and leading client clarification meetings as required.
- Able to confidently negotiate contractual terms with the client with limited assistance from line manager.
- Work to tight deadlines while ensuring attention to detail and compliance with internal governance processes.
- Maintain adherence to CRC Evans’ QHSE policies and procedures during the tendering process.

Job Specific Education Required:
Essential:
- Relevant Apprenticeship, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering Construction, Mathematics, or similar.
- Relevant experience in tendering/estimating high complexity projects in a similar role.
Work Experience Required:
Essential:
- 5+ years’ experience as an Estimator, ideally within Oil & Gas, Construction, or Engineering sectors.
- Experience in managing and submitting tenders and proposals independently.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Essential (E):
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with attention to detail under pressure.
- Spends time to establish a clear priority setting in order to Organize, Plan and deliver the tender in due time.
- Full understanding of all costs and how they are derived / excellent grasp of 'value' to the customer and can construct commercial offers accordingly
- Independently manage medium to high complexity projects / proposals independently, suggests solutions to overcome problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experienced in face to face meetings and comfortable leading client discussions.
- Confident in leading internal meetings and customer-facing discussions.
- Strong team ethic, with experience coordinating with internal and external resources.
- Understanding of cost build-ups, pricing strategy, and margin application aligned with business objectives.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into effective technical and commercial proposals.
- Considerable understanding of FJC/ welding processes and equipment and able to explain to others the differences between each of the systems.
- Able to confidently negotiate contractual terms with the client with limited assistance from line manager.
- Technical knowledge of pipeline construction and/or general construction processes.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Requirement to travel:
- Occasional UK or international to visit clients or regional offices
