The Manufacturing Engineer reporting to Lead Manufacturing & Production Engineer will support the engineering department in producing accurate 3D CAD models of production/project specific equipment, along with full drawings and bill of materials (BOM’s) ensuring all is revision controlled and stored within the PDM system. Implementing small design changes to improve functionality of the design and subsequently revising CAD models, drawings and BOM’s. Supporting the workshop team with build/assembly drawings and additional documentation to ensure all equipment is built and commissioned to specification. Produce and maintain up-to date refurb kit lists and servicing procedures for workshop technicians and field operatives.

Role specific responsibilities

  • Validating CAD models through cross referencing accuracy against completed equipment.
  • Producing bills of materials for standard and project specific equipment Producing engineering drawings to relevant industry standards (BS 8888)
  • Review ECR’s and co-ordinate implementation plans
  • Minor design changes to existing equipment to promote continuous improvement
  • Producing equipment manuals/work instructions and additional documentation
  • Analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines and waste management
  • Reviewing and calculating the efficiencies and costs of the different tools and equipment in the production process and predicting the overheads in future production requirements
  • Coordinating maintenance and repair service procedures, along with BOM form kit lists to keep production equipment operational
  • Support the workshop with build specific requirements
  • Ensure CAD models, drawings and documentation are revision controlled and stored within the PDM system

Education Required:

Essential:

  • Engineering based Degree or equivalent HNC/HND 2:2 or above

Work Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, essential

Desirable:

  • Practical experience working with electrical and mechanical machines,
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material properties & limitations
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD (Modelling Assembling, Drawings) preferably Solidworks.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Able to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills, able to work with clients and colleagues at all levels and to generate clear and accurate reports detailing actions taken and recommended future actions.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own and others time efficiently.
  • An understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical systems is desirable
