Group Senior Accountant, reporting to Group Finance Director, based in Kintore/Edinburgh

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for:

CRC Evans ("CRCE") is a complex global business in the Private Equity backed environment, with entities & locations around the world. CRCE is a company undergoing change and evolution. The Company is evolving its strategy and market focus to play a leading role in the energy transition. There is also significant scope to growth the business in offshore and onshore wind, carbon capture, hydrogen, and nuclear. The business already operates in the mining sector and is seeking opportunities in other wider infrastructure sectors.

The purpose of this position is to provide robust financial stewardship and strategic insight to support the sustainable growth and operational efficiency of a private equity-backed business. The role is critical in safeguarding liquidity through proactive cash flow management and forecasting, while also driving financial discipline via comprehensive budgeting and cost control processes.

This individual will play a key role in upholding strong internal controls and accounting standards. Acting as a finance partner to leadership and cost center managers, the position enables informed decision-making through timely, accurate management reporting, and ensures the business is well-positioned to meet its financial obligations, investor expectations, and long-term objectives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Remit & Responsibilities:

  • Cash Flow Management & Forecasting
    • Monitor and manage company liquidity to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Support the Group Finance team with the preparation of a high quality reporting pack the forecast and annual budget financials with commentary on variances.
    • Working with the Group Function Leaders prepare the functional budgets.
    • Build overhead cost center reports to drive cost/efficiency and to explain key variances/drivers of cost vs. forecast.
    • Develop rhythms with Group Function Leaders to go through their spend, identifying cost saving opportunities.
  • Monthly Reporting
    • Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals against budget and forecast, preparing high quality and insightful analysis
    • Support and influence cross- functional decision making through financial insight and scenario modelling
    • Ensure accurate month end accounting for all Group Functions
    • Ensure accurate and timeliness of all reporting to Blue Water Energy and Lenders
    • Work closely with the business to ensure alignment and consistency of financial reporting at a Group Level
    • Ensure accurate reporting for debt covenants, along with scenario analysis
    • Provide analytical support as required to CRC Leadership Team to aid decision making
  • Compliance
    • Support in the provision of financial evidence for internal or external audits as and when required
    • Timely submission of balance sheet reconciliations – ensuring that the monthly account reconciliations are prepare and reviewed with action plans to resolve issues.
    • Maintain strong internal controls to mitigate financial risks and prevent fraud
    • Implement accounting policy and best practices in line with CRC Evans policies
    • Support with adhoc analysis as and when required

REQUIREMENTS 
Job Specific Education Required: 

Essential: 

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ICAEW) with 5+ PQE
  • Knowledge of accounting policies, including international accounting standards
  • Knowledge of Management Accounting
  • Knowledge of internal control and risk management concepts
  • Proficient in IT applications, especially with financial software packages

Work Experience Required:

  • Energy sector knowledge is beneficial but not essential
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritise whilst ensuring on time delivery
